Zurich Nightlife 2026: Bars, Clubs and Zurich-West
From speakeasy whisky bars on the Niederdorf to the techno warehouses of Zurich-West, this is the city's nightlife in 2026.
From speakeasy whisky bars on the Niederdorf to the techno warehouses of Zurich-West, this is the city's nightlife in 2026.

Switzerland's Loudest City After Dark
Zurich is famously buttoned-up by day and famously not by night. With more clubs per capita than any other Swiss city — and a long, late-licence corridor running from the Niederdorf old town across the river to Langstrasse and the post-industrial Zurich-West — the city stays open until sunrise on weekends. Whether you're after a quiet glass of Swiss pinot, a rooftop sundowner over the Limmat, or a 2 a.m. set at one of the country's leading techno clubs, the city delivers.
The Cocktail Set: Old Town and the Lake
Start in the Niederdorf, the medieval old-town lane east of the river. Old Crow on Schwanengasse is a tiny whisky bar with 250 bottles behind the counter; Kronenhalle Bar near the opera is the wood-panelled grande dame. For a view, the rooftop at the Storchen hotel and Clouds on the 35th floor of the Prime Tower are equally cinematic but very different in price.
Langstrasse — The Loud Mile
A 15-minute walk west of the main station, Langstrasse is Zurich's after-dark spine: Turkish restaurants, dive bars, hip-hop clubs and the legendary Helvti Diner. It is grittier than Niederdorf and more fun if you want noise, smoke and a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd. Don't miss Bar 63 for craft cocktails or Acapulco for late-night dancing.

Zurich-West — Industrial Techno
The former industrial zone of Kreis 5 has reinvented itself as a nightlife district. Hive, Zukunft and Klaus Dinner-Club host international DJ line-ups with sound systems to match. Frau Gerolds Garten in summer is a shipping-container beer garden with rotating chefs. The Frau-Gerold–Hive corridor is the easiest entry to Zurich's techno scene.
When the Night Runs
Zurich nightlife starts late by Mediterranean standards — most clubs don't fill until midnight. Bars usually close at 2 a.m., clubs at 4 a.m. on weekdays and 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Drinks are pricey: budget CHF 18–22 for a cocktail and CHF 9 for a beer.
- Old Crow whisky bar (Niederdorf)
- Clouds rooftop on top of Prime Tower (Hardbrücke)
- Frau Gerolds Garten — outdoor cocktails in summer
- Hive Club — Zurich's flagship techno address
- Late-night kebab on Langstrasse to close out the night
Getting Home Safely
The S-Bahn runs hourly Nachtnetz services on Friday and Saturday. Uber operates in Zurich, but standard taxis from outside the main station and Hardbrücke are reliable. A cross-town fare runs CHF 25–35.
Final Thoughts
Zurich's nightlife rewards a little planning. Pick one neighbourhood per night, book the rooftop earlier in the evening, and let the late hours unfold from there.
